ACO
Treating attachment disorder & trauma - that's what
we do.

Since you've come upon this site, you probably have
someone you love, or someone from whom you
desperately want to feel love, that has been given a
diagnosis of
Reactive Attachment Disorder, Oppositional
Defiant Disorder, ADHD, Depression and other Mood
Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(
PTSD), or a
variety of other co-occurring disorders.  Or, maybe you
haven't been given an Attachment Disorder diagnosis,
but you believe it explains what is going on in your
family.  You may have adopted children, children that
were in out-of-home care, or even biological children
that are causing great stress in your family.

We understand what you are going through & can help.

Families want to be happy.  Parents, grandparents, and
children all desire a happy, reciprocal family where love
is felt by all.  Sometimes families just don't feel good -
things seem to always be going wrong.  You feel like your
family is falling apart.  Happy events are followed by
unhappiness, and you wonder why you can't have a good
time.  There is no peace.  And you wonder what is going
wrong.

Parents Feel..
  • alone, hopeless, and often show signs of depression
  • stressed & anxious
  • like they are crazy  and confused
  • angry
  • misunderstood and/or not believed by teachers,
    grandparents, social workers, and therapists,
sometimes even by family & close
    friends
  • inadequate as parents, a feeling often reinforced
by the professionals they go to for help.

Children Feel...
  • mad
  • alone
  • scared
  • sad
  • hurt...

They don't want to let you know they are hurt.  They are
scared to lose you.  They have built up their defense
mechanisms and freely demonstrate anger, because in
their world no one and nothing is safe.  They don't want
to be vulnerable to the hurt they believe you could cause
them.  After all...someone did hurt them, someone broke
their heart.

At the root of all the explosive, defiant, destructive,
controlling, vengeful, inexplicable...  behavior is a hurt
child who needs help to heal.

At ACO we believe that healing occurs best in families.
We also believe that the mother-child bond is critical in
the healing process.  And, that the father plays a vital
role in supporting the family, both in session and at home.

We offer a variety of services that will help your family
heal.  Please continue on into our site for more in-depth
information.  Look on this page to find links to our other
pages.  Please, feel free to
